Africenergy and Infrastructure Limited was honoured to participate in AfriCanada Expo 2026, Canada’s premier trade and investment platform connecting the African continent and Canada, hosted by Made in Africa Expo Canada at the Holiday Inn Hotel and Conference Centre Edmonton South.
The company was represented by its Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Rex Bassey, who joined a distinguished gathering of policymakers, investors, Indigenous community leaders, small and medium enterprises, educators, innovators and industry stakeholders convened around the theme, “Unlocking Potential: The Africa Canada Partnership for Prosperity.”
Africenergy extended sincere appreciation to Made in Africa Expo Canada and the AfriCanada Expo Organising Committee for the kind invitation, the thoughtful curation of the programme, and the generous hospitality extended to all delegates throughout the two days of exchange in Edmonton.
Africenergy was particularly privileged to lend its support to the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s official engagement at the Expo, which was represented at ministerial level by His Excellency, the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo. The Minister’s presence underscored Nigeria’s strategic interest in deepening bilateral cooperation with Canada, particularly in the gas value chain, downstream petroleum, infrastructure and the broader energy transition agenda. As a Nigerian energy and infrastructure enterprise with pan-African reach, Africenergy considers it a privilege to walk alongside our government in advancing these conversations on the international stage.
The Expo’s theme captures a reality that the global economy is increasingly recognising. The next chapter of Africa Canada relations will not be written in government communiqués alone. It will be shaped just as powerfully by the men and women who move between our two regions every day, the entrepreneurs pursuing market entry, the skilled workers building lives in new homes, the educators training the next generation, the innovators commercialising ideas across borders, and the community leaders weaving the social fabric that allows commerce to flourish. Government to government engagement creates the framework, but it is people to people engagement that gives the partnership its texture, its resilience and its long-term value.

For Africenergy, this orientation is not abstract. Our operating philosophy has long held that energy and infrastructure development on the African continent must be anchored in real partnerships, with real people, delivering real outcomes for host communities. AfriCanada Expo 2026 reinforced our conviction that the Canadian market, the Canadian diaspora community of African origin, and Canada’s Indigenous business ecosystem all represent natural collaborators in the work of building an African energy and infrastructure sector that is competitive, inclusive and globally connected.
Across the two days, the company engaged in productive conversations on capital mobilisation, technology transfer, downstream petroleum opportunities, gas commercialisation, critical minerals, and the role of Indigenous economic models in shaping more equitable resource development. We were especially encouraged by the spirit of mutual respect that characterised every panel and bilateral meeting, the recognition that Africa is not a passive recipient of investment but a co-architect of the partnership.
Africenergy leaves Edmonton with renewed conviction in the Africa Canada corridor, fresh relationships to nurture, and a clear sense that the work of unlocking potential is only just beginning. We thank the organisers, our fellow exhibitors and delegates, the Government of Alberta, the City of Edmonton and the Treaty 6 Nations on whose traditional lands we were privileged to gather. We look forward to translating the conversations of these two days into concrete projects, partnerships and shared prosperity in the months ahead.
